Avon Chinese School

Avon Chinese School (爱文中文学校) is a non-profitable community group based in Bristol and is the largest in the South West (with about 150 students before the lockdown) which covers the areas far and beyond. The school is focusing on teaching school age children Chinese language (Mandarin) from beginner to GCSE level (and A level subject to numbers), Chinese culture and history.

Avon Chinese School was set up on September 1996 by a group of Chinese parents in Bristol (UK) to teach their children Chinese language. Since then, the school is developed gradually with the great efforts by many volunteer teachers, head teachers, school committee members, parents and children. Over the years, we had been supported by the local council and local school especially the Bradley Stoke Community School. The school has been relocated several times, it is based on the Bradley Stoke Community School premises before the Covid-19 lockdown. We are now continuing our teaching online.

Our school actively involved in supporting local community and organisations. During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, we joined up with the South Gloucestershire Chinese Association and raised over £3000, for taking part the action led by the Association of British Chinese Professors, buying PPE for NHS hospitals. Our children also donated snacks to the local hospital.

At the moment we don't have adult class.
